Centre Court

The back of house refurbishment presented a number of challenges to successfully upgrade the existing facilities providing office, retail, media and corporate entertainment venues within the confines of the existing structure. The closing roof was used to great acclaim for the first time in the 2009 Championships providing a fully air-conditioned space on court whatever the weather. Our engineering team worked closely with both our client and the consultant to provide a concealed installation of a large amount of ductwork and associated equipment hidden within the Centre Court roof.

Court 1

E&S Heating & Ventilation Ltd was successful in open competition and was contracted by Sir Robert McAlpine to undertake the bowl ventilation works within the Wimbledon Court 1 refurbishment.  Like Centre Court, Court 1 has been fitted with a retractable roof to enable all weather play with guaranteed climate control.  The bowl ventilation works required highly complex project co-ordination skills which was led by the E&S team.  The project programme was closely managed in order to meet the AELTCC deadlines for the championships.
